Ralph J. Bunche was born in Detroit Michigain, his father Fred Bunche was a barber for the whites only, his mother Olive Johnson Bunche was a amature musician, his Nana who lived with the family was born as a slave. When he was 10yrs. old he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in hope of the dry climate improving his parents health, whom of witch died two days later. Then after moving to L.A. he completed his masters degree in 1928 at Harverd. Then became a teacher at Howard University. Bunche has always been active in the civil rights movement.
Ralph Johnson Bunche was famous for receiving a Nobel Peace Prize for mediation in Palestine. He is also famous for being the first African American to receive that award.
